Detectives from the Ethics & Anti-Corruption on Friday arrested the Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services Georgina Wangui Kamunge on allegations of bribery demands from firearm owners. Wangui is said to have sought bribes from firearm owners seeking psychiatric evaluation reports from Mathare Hospital during the the ongoing vetting of licensed firearm owners. The owners reported the matter to EACC who conducted covert operations at the hospital and recorded Wangui and other officials demanding for bribes. “EACC has today arrested the Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services, Mrs. Georgina Wangui Kamunge on allegations of bribery demands from firearm owners seeking psychiatric evaluation reports from Mathare Hospital during the the ongoing vetting of licensed firearm owners,” EACC announced on their official Twitter handle. “EACC received complaints from firearm holders seeking the said evaluation reports stating that the process was marred with gross corruption.
